Daily program of the adventure expedition Guarana to the Igarape Acu and Reserve of the Satere Mawe Indians near Maues (267 km from Manaus).  At the end of the page you will find prices and practical hints.
 
1st day

Pickup by taxi from hotel, transfer to  Manaus Rodo port.  Presentation to  captain and crew.

 Transfer by Regional  Boat to Maues, 267 km from Manaus. Accommodation in hammock. All meals and welcome drink on board.

We will pass the meeting of the waters (Rio Negro with Rio Solimoes) and see in the morning pink dophins before arrive in Maues.

2nd day

Arrival in the morning in Maues. Transfer in motorized canoe to the Igarape LIMAO. Jungle walk of two hours (with luggage) to the indigenous community NOVO PARAISO. Overnight in Caboclas house and dinner with natives. 

Obs: In case of bad weather conditions or high water levels transfer to MAHATU Junge House in motorized canoe.

3rd day

After breakfast an indian guide will lead us on a secret indian trial through deep virgin jungle (3 hours) to CONCEICAO at the Igarape Acu. Transfer in motorized canoe to the MAHATU Jungle House.

In the afternoon visit to the chacra (Guarana, Manioc, Pineappel plantation) and jungle walk with emphasis on survival training and medical plants.

In the evening spotting of caiman and observation of indigenous speering caiman for survival. Listening to the sounds of animals at night (with some luck we will hear a Jaguar).

4th day

After breakfast observation of indigenous hunting techniques for survival. Invitation for lunch by indigenous family, where you can taste the meat of wild animals and caiman. In the afternoon exploration of flooded jungle areas in traditional wooden canoes.

OBS: For your convenience and safety all excursions shall be accompanied by one experienced bilingual and one local guide.

5th day Sunrise tour, watching of monkeys. After breakfast Tucunare fishing.
After lunch visit to the indigenous community SAO TOME. In the afternoon jungle walk.
Dinner and night tour: observation of animals and indigenous hunting techniques.

6th day

Transfer early in the morning  (5 a.m.) in motorized canoe to the Parana River. From there we will continue in a speed boat to

Maues. Relaxing on sandy river beaches of the VERA CRUZ community and traditional lunch (Tucunare fish). In the afternoon jungle walk and observation of Sloths.

The regional boat to Manaus will leave at 6 p.m. (saturdays at 12 a.m.), arriving there next day in the afternnoon. Second chance see the meeting of the waters in Manaus between the Rio Negro and Solimoes river.

OPTIONAL
VISIT to the
INDIAN
RESERVE
(3 days)

After arrival in Maues and lunch we will continue in a speed boat on the Maues-Acu river to the RESERVE of the Satere Mawe Indians. The first night will be spend outside the reserve in a Caboclas home. A member of the Satere-Mawe tribe will explain us the daily life in the nearby reserve and necessary precautions. Arrival in the indian reserve on the second day at approx. 9 a.m. Welcome by the TUCHAUA, who will invite us for a traditional SAPKO drink and smoking tobacco grown by the indians. Preparation of lunch with the tribe..
In the afternoon visit of an another indian village in the reserve and overnight in the home of the Tuchaua.

In the morning we will leave the Indian Reserve in direction of the Igarape Limao. Jungle walk (2 hours) and lunch in caboclos home.

Transfer to Maues, where the boat to Manaus will depart at 6 p.m.

Your will take part at an adventure excursion, EXPEDITION TYPE, to a remote indigenous area in the Amazon. You must be prepared to walk several hours deep in virgin jungle, and to cope with extreme situations such as rain, wet jungle areas, insects, wild animals, snakes, curious indians, sleeping in the jungle.

Practical Hints.

1) Daily departures from Manaus, with exception of the optional visit to the      Satere Mawe land near Barreirinha (permission of cacique required).

2)  We will provide hammocks, boots, food and purified water.

3)  You should bring flash lights, repellent (insects), long trousers,  a                 blanket, a knife and a raincoat.

4)  This excursion is an adventure expedition. Good health and physical          condition, flexibility and respect of the indigenous culture is required.

5)  We will visit FRIENDLY INDIANS only, but for your safety do not
      venture alone around without consulting your guides. The indians in the
      INDIAN RESERVE do not accept unauthorized visitors, who will
      be forced to leave all their stuff and money there and send back.
      Amazonriders takes you there with permission of the Tuchaua and
      the authorities, however you should not bring any valuables with you.
